A shocking incident of an alleged explosion in Redmi smartphone has been reported from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. According to news portal Sakshi post, a RedMi Note 4 smartphone exploded in the pocket of a user in Ravulapalem in East Godavari district on Sunday. According to the report, the owner of Redmi Note 4 identified as Bhavana Suryakiran had suffered a serious injury on his thigh. Reportedly, the shocking incident of explosion happened when he was riding a bike with his Redmi Note 4 smartphone in the pocket of his pants, the Sakshi Post report said. The photo of the incident showing an injury on his thigh and the almost burnt phone was also shared by Sakshi Post in its report. Bhavana Suryakiran said that he purchased the Redmi Note 4 smartphone only 20 days back through Flipkart, as per the report.

After the report of the incident went viral, the tech gadgets website Techook contacted Xiaomi for the company’s take on the incident. According to Techook, Xiaomi has confirmed the incident and said further investigation is on.

As per statement cited by Techook, Xiaomi says, “We take such matters seriously as customer safety is of utmost importance for Xiaomi. All of our devices go through stringent quality tests. We have been able to establish contact with the customer and are in the process of procuring the damaged product to investigate the case carefully.”
